Amanita Design's three games on mobile have all been linked by similar aspects even though they're completely different in setting and story, mainly a beautiful aesthetic, a minimalistically -delivered narrative, and playful tactile puzzles.

Now you can check out those games - Machinarium, Botanicula, and Samorost 3 - on iOS, each discounted to 99p / 99c for a short time.

Machinarium (review) is a story of a lost robot through a mechanical city, his newfound friends, and the adventure from the outskirts to the heart of the metropolis.

Botanicula (review) follows a group of charming insects as they flee hungry spiders and other threats, exploring an organic world of fellow bugs and plant life.

Samorost 3 (review) was a long-awaited sequel that takes the player on a cross-galaxy journey to stop an ancient robotic evil, stopping at otherworldly planetoids to solve puzzles and meets odd inhabitants.

You can find all three games on Amanita Design's page on the App Store.
Figuring that they their passions likewise lent me

European retro-gaming outlet Funstock has announced a new gaming tablet called the BLAZE TAB.

It sounds like a knock-off Amazon Fire tablet, sure, but it seems to have its own identity. For starters, Funstock is pushing the idea that the BLAZE TAB is for retro gaming.

To this end, it has physical buttons as well as a touchscreen. There are two analogue sticks, a d-pad, and six face buttons. It also has a Start and Select button along the bottom.

Plus, it has a key remapping function so that you should be able to configure touchscreen controls to the tablet's buttons without too much hassle.

The other big feature is that it has a HDMI output so you can plug it straight into a TV rather than playing the games on the 7-inch screen. Just like the old days.

Note that it doesn't have any games installed on it but it does connect with Google Play. So any games you've already bought on there can be re-downloaded to the tablet.

Other than that, it's an Android-based tablet with a quad core processor and dedicated graphics processor.

It's designed to run games that were made for the ZX Spectrum, all the way up to the consoles of the mid-'90s such as the N64, Dreamcast, and PSOne.

It also comes with 16GB of internal memory which, as Funstock points out, should be able to store hundreds if not thousands of retro games.

If you're into it, you can pre-order the BLAZE TAB on Funstock's store right now for £99.99. It'll be out in Q3 2015.

Updated on February 8th, at 5:07: Alone or with a friend, you can now attempt to survive the mirrored stages of Narcissus, out now on the App Store.Narcissus features 50 levels of frantic dual-person platforming and can be downloaded for free, with a £1.99 / $1.99 in-app purchase to remove ads.

Narcissus is a two-player co-operative platformer, coming to iOS next week.

Narcissus is a side-scrolling platformer in which you control both figures on the screen at the same time (here's where the dual-player comes in useful). Of course, you don't have to play with two players, you can still just tackle it singularly, but it's nice to have the tag-in option.

If it looks familiar to you, our long-term Pocket Gamer fans, we actually did a preview of the game back in 2014. That was before its colours had a bit of a re-vamp, however, and the game is certainly looking rather pretty.

Give the video a watch and you can probably see where the challenge sets in if you got at it alone. It reminds me a little of Nidhogg in its style, and gives the game an effective but unburdened design.

Narcissus is slated to launch on the 9th February on iOS, with Android coming sometime thereafter.

In 24 hours, the totally bonkers spear-throwing simulator Lichtspeer will be released, but not in the way we'd originally hoped. Sadly it looks like we may have to wait a little while longer, Vita lovers.

Lichtspeer is an arcade lightspear-throwing simulator based in an ancient Germanic future – yes really – complete with Hipster Ice Giants and Wurst Zombies. It's you and your mighty spear versus the world as it's up to you to restore the order and please the gods.

Originally set to release tomorrow, 27th September across all platforms, Lichthund has had a change of heart. Instead, Vita users will have to wait until November before they can get their hands on a copy.

Understandably, it could be the case that the Vita version simply wasn't ready to go public tomorrow, and if it's the case I reckon we'd rather see a perfectly polished game rather than an early game full of bugs.

If you're a PC/PS4 user, feel free to rejoice as the game drops tomorrow. We'll keep you updated on the Vita version as things progress.
Do not be in a hurry to change one evil for another.
